The new LMS 6048 is the successor of our successful sensors LMS 6044 and LMS 6045.
LMS 6044 and LMS 6045, is connected to a PC, which evaluates and transfers measurement results.
With this measurement method there is no need for single feeders.By measuring directly in the stacker one eliminates errors like e.g. removed pieces, which would otherwise give a wrong total. Measures length of all boards for every layer in stackers. A length gauge,

Measuring method:
LMS6048 is placed as in a normal length measuring application in transversal conveyor. An absolute encoder is mounted to follow the forward movement of the stacker table.
During movement a whole layer of boards of known dimension passes the length gauge, mounted by side the conveyor. The length gauge continuously transmits measurements to the PC (numerous measurements are made on each single board).
When measurements cease to come over a predefined length of conveyor movement, collection is ended and the PC divides all measurements into individual boards.
The boards can also be separated from each other with small irregular distances.
The length values are sent as UDP-messages to the superior control/registration system.
Measuring system consists of:
- 1pcs. LMS6048 length gauge
- 1pcs. Absolute encoder with CAN-bus
- 1pcs. PC with network- and CAN-bus card
- 1pcs. PC-software

Board lengths are displayed as bars with length labels. The red part of bars shows the percentage of error messages for each board.
PC software :
- Receive measurement data on serial interface from LMS6045
- Receive nominal dimension and send measurement data via UDP
- Receive positional values from encoder via CAN-bus
- Graphical display of raw data as X (position) / Y(distance)
- Show nominal dimension
- Setup menu for measurement
filteringal processing, a compact design and high accuracy.
It is easy to change from any former LMS model to the new LMS 6048 due to the compatibility in both electrical and mechanical aspects.Principle of operation is optical triangulation.
Measurement information can be transferred to a computer system via different interfaces. As standard the instrument has a serial RS232 interface (Host) and a parallel interface. An analogue interface is available as an option. The measurement range is 4800 mm and the stand-off distance is 850 mm.
The sensor is developed to work in an industry environment, such as the timber industry.
The instrument case is sealed according to IP52.
New technical details:
- 100 mm heigh vision
- Turnable from left to right, which makes it easy to change place of the sensor in the process.
- LED display with user interface for easy installation, calibration and service. Shows accurate measurement values for function control.
