ProfiCura Dim – The sensor for smart control, correct turning and accurate width!
The new LIMAB ProfiCura 2D smart sensor ProfiCura Dim measures the geometrical dimension of a board in both transversal and lineal processes. ProfiCura Dim measures the cup, wane and width of the board simultaneously. All calculations are done within the sensor and measurement results are directly communicated from the sensor on Ethernet or a variety of Fieldbus interfaces. The functions are to determine that the board has the cup or wane directed up-wards and calculates also the total width of the board.
Basic Specification
Model | Field of View (FOV) | Stand off (SO) | Measuring Range (MR) |
ProfiCura Dim - Cup/Wane/Width | 300 – 500mm | 750mm | 500mm |
Operating Principle
The boards are scanned by one LIMAB ProfiCura Dim sensors using a technique known as laser triangulation. All measurement algorithms are integrated in the sensor and measurement results are communicated on Ethernet or fieldbus interfaces.
Applications
The ProfiCura Dim has the following pre-defined measurement modes:
Cup turning
Transmit turning signal in front of a planer.
Wane turning
Transmit turning signal in front of nailing machine in pallet process.
Wane turning
Transmit turning signal for wane up, in front of an edger or rip-saw.
Width measurement
Transmit correct width in a sorting line.
Cup Turning
The ProfiCura Dim Cup sensor is working in transversal and longitudinal processes.
In transversal mode it measures the total width of the board independently on movements and vibrations. The sensor measures the arrow height of the board and transmit turning data to the PLC to turn the board correctly in front of the planer.
In longitudinal mode the whole board will be measured before the sensor evaluate the cup and transmit the data to the PLC.
Wane turning
The ProfiCura Dim Wane sensor is working in transversal and longitudinal processes.
In transversal mode it measures the total wane width and wane depth of the board and compare the data with the operator’s configuration before transmitting turning signal.
In longitudinal mode the whole board will be measured before the sensor evaluates the wane and transmit the data to the PLC.
Width measurement
The ProfiCura Dim Width sensor is working in transversal and longitudinal processes.
In transversal mode it measures the total width of the board. The width is then evaluated and transmitted to the superior system. The sensor do not need a photocell or an encoder, which makes it independent on movements and vibrations.
In longitudinal mode the whole board will be measured before the sensor transmits the width to the superior system.
For cup and wane turning a 1 bit digital signal output to turn or not is available. For width measurement a numerical output is given through an analogue or fieldbus interface. All measurement data is available through the optional fieldbus interface.
High Accuracy
- ProfiCura Dim provides you with a high accuracy measurement for turning boards correctly. There will be no need for manual control in your process.
- Independent on vibration and bouncing.
Measurements in one sensor
- Cup, wane and width measurements in one single sensor
Simple integration
- Easy to install in new and existing production lines.
- No moving parts, no mechanical wear, long durability.
Non-contact
- Non-contact measurement for best results.
Display
- The display give the user a feedback that the ProfiCura Dim are working correctly. The screen show main output data and board direction.
